Market Radar Pattern Family

Flag Continuation Pattern

A flag is a controlled counter-trend pause after an impulsive move. Market Radar evaluates the pullback depth, channel quality, volume, and trend context.

Scanner interpretation

Market Radar defines a flag as a proportional counter-trend pause after an impulse move. The impulse provides context; the flag itself shows whether the market is digesting that move in an orderly way.

A clean flag usually has a compact pullback, recognizable channel behavior, and an invalidation boundary close enough to make the structure useful for analysis.

  • Impulse leg first
  • Controlled counter-trend channel
  • Pullback stays proportionate
  • Continuation side remains visible

Quality model

The scanner gives more weight to shallow retracements, cooling volume, and moving-average context that remains aligned with the original impulse.

A flag loses quality when it retraces too much, takes too long, or expands sharply against the trend. In those cases, the pattern may no longer represent continuation.

Detection Focus

  • Directional impulse before the flag
  • Controlled counter-trend channel
  • Pullback remains proportionate
  • Continuation trigger is visible

Quality Signals

  • Shallow retracement
  • Contracting volume
  • Trend moving averages remain aligned
  • Clear flag low or high invalidation

Invalidation

  • Deep retracement
  • Loss of impulse structure
  • Volatility expansion against the trend
Market Radar treats pattern names as context-dependent watchlist candidates. Direction, trend context, compression quality, trigger clarity, and invalidation are evaluated together.
